Germany is known for one of the largest economies in the world, a high standard of living and a developed social sphere. That is why more and more expats are choosing this country to move to. However, in order to start a new life in Germany, you need to have reasons.

How to move to Germany? Details in our material.

What documents are required?

The shortage of qualified personnel in Germany is more than 40%, so foreigners actively find work in Germany and move to the country for permanent residence.

The basis for employment is a work permit. Depending on the qualification and type of employment, several types of permits are distinguished: EU blue card, permit of a highly qualified worker, work permit for freelancers, etc. It is easiest to issue the following permit options:

1. Visa of a highly qualified worker

One of the easiest ways to move to Germany is to get a visa for a highly qualified worker, because there is a significant shortage of specialists in this category in the country. To obtain a permit, an expat must have one of the professions that are in demand (IT specialist, lawyer, doctor, etc.), receive a job offer from a German employer and submit documents for a work visa.

2. Freelancer visa

This permit is also available to most foreigners, however, in order to obtain it, it is necessary to prove that there is a demand for your services in Germany.

3. Job seeker's visa

On the basis of this long-term residence permit, a foreigner can move to Germany and look for a job within 6 months. Thanks to this, you will be able to attend interviews, which is much better than applying for a job from abroad. Obtaining a jobseeker's visa takes 4-6 months, so you should apply in advance.

The second important document for moving is a health insurance policy.

How long can you stay in Germany?

A visa or residence permit for the purpose of obtaining skilled work is issued for a maximum of four years. If the employment contract is concluded for a shorter period, the residence permit is issued for the duration of the contract.

How to move to Germany with your family?

Third-country nationals legally residing in Germany often wish to immigrate to Germany with their family. The German immigration authorities, which support family reunification, have created a special visa for this purpose.

For a successful family move, the following requirements must be met:

- resident of Germany - have a permanent residence permit in Germany, receive a sufficient salary to support yourself and your family and know the German language.

- the family member must prove family ties with the expat and know German at least at a basic level.

Children under the age of 16 can join their parents without any requirements. Persons aged 16-18 must be unmarried and fluent in German to obtain a family reunification visa.
