Also, one of the pearls of the island is the friendly local population.
To make the most of your time in this country, we advise you to familiarize yourself with our list of key tourist attractions in Barbados.
Beaches of Carlisle Bay
Carlisle Bay on the outskirts of Bridgetown attracts tourists with endless beaches and crystal clear water. The most popular of them are Pebble Beach, Browns and Bayshore. Tourists here prefer to relax - swim in turquoise water, sunbathe, ride a surfboard. At dawn on the beaches of Carlisle Bay you can enjoy not only a beautiful sunrise, but also racehorses taking morning baths in the ocean.
Hunt Gardens
Anthony Hunt worked on creating his masterpiece for many years. The gardens are located on terraced slopes with steps and winding paths in the interior of the island. Various types of plants are grown here, from huge palm trees to rare and exotic species. Birds and animals can also be found quite often in the garden.
Downtown Bridgetown
In the capital of the island, there are many attractions of the country, the most famous of which are the Houses of Parliament, which are easily recognizable by their neo-Gothic architecture and clock towers, as well as the Square of National Heroes. Tourists should also visit the Chamberlain Bridge and admire the scenery of the Kerenage River. From the bridge, you can see yachts moored along the water and colorful buildings along the waterfront. From here, take a stroll through the city, including the Needham Israel Synagogue, St. Michael's Cathedral, and the 1,000-year-old baobab tree in the Royal Park. Also stroll through the Harrison Historic District.
Bathsheba Bay
The bay is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and surprises tourists with its strength. The beach is popular with surfers, but not suitable for swimming, because it is dotted with huge rocks that were created by the remains of ancient coral reefs. The beach is also known as Soup Bowl, it is by this name that it is known among surfers all over the world.
St. Nicholas Abbey
The great Jacobean house at St. Nicholas Abbey was built in 1658. The stories that happened here for many years are no less intriguing than the plantation itself. Despite its name, the abbey was a plantation and never had any religious association. The property has changed hands several times over the centuries, and today it is owned by Larry and Hanna Warren, who purchased the property in 2006. They restored the estate and use it as a sugar plantation.
Animal Flower Cave
Located in the northern part of Barbados, the Animal Flower Cave is one of the most interesting places to visit, because from its observation deck there are fabulous views. Huge natural openings are windows with a breathtaking view of the ocean. On the slope of the rock above the cave there is a restaurant and souvenir shops.
Crane Beach
Crane Beach is a beautiful beach with soft sand, tucked away in a bay on the Atlantic coast and surrounded by high natural walls. Tourists are attracted here by white sand with a tinge of pink color, turquoise water and sea waves crashing on the reef. The beach once served as a landing pad where goods were unloaded. They were lifted using a crane installed on top of the rock.
Barbados Reserve
The Barbados Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to see and observe many of Barbados' most famous animals, including the famous green monkeys. In this quiet park, shady paths wind through a forest of magnesium trees. Agoutis, monkeys, deer, turtles and iguanas freely roam the territory of the reserve, giving visitors the opportunity to take a closer look and take stunning photos. The park is also home to parrots, caimans, maras and snakes. Not far from the reserve there is a signal station in the Grenade Hall forest. Visiting this attraction is included in the price of admission to the zoo.
Oistins Fish Fry Market
Every Friday night at Oistins Fish Fry, you can enjoy freshly caught fish cooked on the grill at the fish market. Dozens of sellers work in the market, offering a full range of fish dishes and side dishes. Locals and tourists come here to enjoy the food and atmosphere. Picnic tables or plastic tables under a canopy serve as a temporary restaurant. The market opens around 6 in the evening and runs until late at night.
