What is an H1B work visa?

It is impossible to immigrate to the US on an H-1B visa. It allows a foreigner to work for an American employer for up to 6 years. Only highly qualified workers with at least a bachelor's degree who have valuable knowledge and at least three years of work experience can get a visa.

The USA has introduced restrictions on the number of H-1B work visas. Every year, the country's government issues 65,000 visas. Among applicants, they are distributed according to the principle of a lottery, registration for participation in which will begin on March 1, 2023.

How do I apply for an H-1B visa?

The system will begin accepting H-1B visa applications electronically on March 1, 2023, and will close by March 17, 2023. Prospective employers or their authorized representatives will go through a registration process where only basic information about the company and the prospective employee will be required.

Upon completion of the process, the applicant will receive a USCIS confirmation number that can be used to track enrollment. It is impossible to find out the status of the case for him in the Case Status Online system.

Starting February 21, 2023, employers or their official representatives will be able to create accounts on the USCIS portal and enter information about future employees. From March 1, when the registration will be officially started, the applicant will be able to enter information about the company and pay the registration fee in the amount of $10 for each application.

It is worth noting that registration of several companies in one session is also available.

During the enrollment period, the US Department of the Treasury has approved a temporary increase in the daily credit card transaction limit from $24,999.99 to $39,999.99. This is due to the experience of previous years, when the number of registrations exceeded the daily credit card limit. Additional information will be provided prior to the start of the H-1B visa application period.

H-1B visa applicant selection process

Regarding the applicant selection process, USCIS informs that if a sufficient number of applicants register on the portal by March 17, USCIS will randomly select winners and notify them through their online myUSCIS accounts.

If the number of participants is less than the planned number of people, then all valid registrations will be selected.

Account holders will receive information by the end of March 2023.
